Postgraduate Study within
the EU-India Cross Cultural Innovation Network Project
In order to create a network model of postgraduate
training we are developing an overarching framework which inter-links
the postgraduate and
doctoral training programme with the project workshop and
seminar programme, R &D activities, and the exchanges of
researchers. The project workshops provide a forum for piloting
new courses and training modules. Visiting researchers contribute
to widening the knowledge base through focused seminars and
extending the project network through public lectures and visits
to enterprises. By integrating exchanges of researchers with
the ongoing processes of joint R & D projects, joint seminars,
workshops and network forums, and by extending the university
network to entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial organisations,
the project provides an integrated model for university collaborations
in applied research and postgraduate training.

EU-INDIA CROSS CULTURAL COLLABORATIVE LEARNING
With growing interest in
distance learning and collaboration, the project has provided
a number of opportunities for students and academics from participating
institutes to collaborate on a number of innovative projects.
EU-INDIA POSTGRADUATE STUDENT NETWORK
One of the main ideas of this project is to build and support
a student network for research and postgradute studies. A number
of students from the participating institutes have embarked
on Doctoral
Studies and Masters studies.
EDUCATIONAL MODELS WITHIN THE PROJECT
We are also seeking to learn from the diverse traditions and
current issues in Education in the region of Europe and India.
At the University of Brighton a new model for Ph.D study
is under consideration.See for example the position paper:
From the Technical University of Aachen in Germany,we have
an account of the Aachen
model of education.
From the University of Delhi, India we learn about the current
debates on education and curriculum reform.
